The Asia Pacific Countertrade Association
Pte Ltd is the privatized entity and successor of APCA, the Asia
Pacific Countertrade Association formed in 1994 to represent and
serve the countertrade, offset and structured finance community
in the Asia Pacific.
Whilst on the one hand traditional countertrade
and finance have declined. On the other hand, changes in the nature
of trade, trade finance and countetrade programmes have made it
necessary for APCA to change its focus, be more flexible and re-orientate
its approach in order to better meet the needs of the Asian countertrade
and finance communities.
It was decided unanimously to dissolve the association
following its 10th annual general meeting in 2003 and to privatise
some of its activities and to keep alive the APCA brandname in the
APCA Conference series to be held with effect from 2003 in collaboration
with UNCTAD (the United Nations Confrence on Trade and Development).
